How to Track Proposal Views and Interpret Reader Activity
A proposal link can help you see whether it was accessed and when activity occurred. Decide in advance how each signal would change your next step.
Read the signals in context
| Signal | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| First recorded visit | Keep the agreed follow-up date and offer help with the next decision. |
| Repeat visits | Consider offering a short summary for internal discussion. Multiple visits can come from one reader. |
| Estimated viewing time | Use it as a rough signal. An open tab can overstate attention. |
| No recorded activity | Check delivery and access before assuming a lack of interest. |
Use identity only when verified
Keep anonymous activity anonymous. If your tool verifies reader identity, use the verified record and follow your organization’s privacy practices. A visit shows access to the proposal. Agreement on scope, price, or timing still needs an explicit response.
Example follow-up decision
In this fictional example, an agency sees three visits to a proposal and has a review call booked for Thursday. The agency keeps the call and sends a short agenda covering the two options. It does not infer that three people opened the proposal. For setup, see the proposal sharing guide.
