How to Choose Access Controls for a Client Proposal Link
Choose the access setting based on who needs to read the proposal and what would happen if the link were forwarded. Ask the client who needs access before sending a sensitive proposal.
Compare three access options
| Option | Good fit | Check before sending |
|---|---|---|
| Anyone with the link | A proposal intended for easy circulation | A forwarded link can reach additional readers. |
| Link plus passcode | A small group that can share one access code | A recipient can forward both the link and the code. A shared code does not establish identity. |
| Verified email with an allowlist | A proposal restricted to named reviewers | Confirm each address and test what a nonlisted reader sees. |
Test as a recipient
- Open the link in a separate session without the owner’s login.
- Check the experience for the intended recipient.
- For restricted sharing, verify an unapproved reader is denied and confirm how to add another reviewer.
Removing access can block future visits when the tool supports revocation. Previously downloaded copies and screenshots may remain with recipients. For SharedBrief’s available modes, see the sharing documentation.
